DALE WEISS – Artist's Statement

My career as a painter has enabled me to explore many facets of art. Beginning with assemblage, I worked with textures and a multitude of found objects to create balance and harmony. What followed was a series of social commentary paintings on the lives and condition of children in our complicated society. My intrigue with the colors and shapes of the southern California landscape led to semi-abstract canvases reflecting this vision. Finally what has evolved is an explosion of geometrics-- lines, shapes and patterns of bold vibrant colors. In each of the paintings in this new series, I've come full circle to create balance and harmony.
